Youth and Young Adult Pastor - Full-time 

Job Description

Position Summary:
The Role of the Youth and Young Adult Pastor is to be responsible for the development and implementation of our ministry to youth (grades 6th–12th) and young adults, both single and married (18–30), by cultivating ministries that will emphasize the mission of Encounter Church to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values, mission and strategy of Encounter Church and the ability to align various ministries with our mission, vision, and values.

  • Must have a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Must live a life of Godly integrity.
  • Must have a heart for youth and young adults and for the local church.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills to preach and teach the Biblical story and share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate and work effectively with groups and individuals and to manage conflict.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual who has the ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and ministries.
  • Must possess the ability to build and maintain strong teams of volunteers through participatory management.
  • Must possess the ability to identify the actions necessary to complete tasks and obtain results.
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in pastoral ministries.

Responsibilities:
  • Encourage the introduction to and assimilation of youth and young adults into the life of the congregation as active participants of the Encounter Church family (including conversion, baptism, discipleship, membership, ministry involvement, leadership development, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain a plan to effectively reach out to college students and young adults in the Jackson County area that are not currently plugged into another church.
  • Build spiritually based relationships with youth and young adults for the purposes of spiritual growth as well as outreach.
  • Serve as the primary teacher for all facets of the youth and young adult ministry, accepting overall responsibility for the doctrine and teaching participants, as well as delegating this responsibility as appropriate and necessary.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and encourage adult volunteers to serve in various areas of the youth and young adult ministry.
  • Develop and maintain a system for effective communication with all youth and young adults.
  • Develop and implement an on-going evaluation process for ministry effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain competence in current middle school, high school, college/young adult culture trends, needs and program strategies.
  • Develop and maintain social media accounts for youth and young adult ministries.
  • Submit an annual strategic plan of proposed ministry and budgetary requirements to the finance team.
  • Submit regular reports & participate in weekly staff meetings as required.
  • This position is directly answerable to the Lead Pastor in cooperation with the Local Board of Administration.
  • Assist the Lead Pastor in other areas of ministry as time and necessity dictate.
  • Lend support wherever possible to the overall ministry of Encounter.
