Throughout his ministry, Jesus consistently sought out those marginalized by society. Like sheep without a shepherd, he chose to Encounter them where they were at – leaving them forever changed.

After these people had a life-changing encounter, Jesus called and Equipped them to follow him. This meant leaving behind their previous ways and striving to mimic him as his disciples.

When these followers had been thoroughly equipped, Jesus released them to Engage with people and culture by advancing the Kingdom of God. They were unleashed by Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish the Father’s will – that all would accept the Gospel of Jesus and the coming Kingdom of God.

This basic model of Biblical discipleship is exactly what Encounter Church and Journey Ministries is all about. Journey Ministries exists to help students Encounter, Equip, and Engage. Everything we do centers on making disciples of Jesus that in turn make disciples of Jesus. We hope you’ll join us for this life-changing journey!

Meet Pastor Brad Holmes - our new Student Ministries Pastor.

Pastor Brad was born and raised in Northern Michigan, just south of Cadillac. After he felt called to ministry in high school, Brad attended Indiana Wesleyan where he received his undergrad in Christian Ministries alongside his Master’s of Practical Theology.

Brad has a huge passion for discipleship. He loves spending time with students, hearing their stories, having fun, and teaching what it truly means to follow Jesus. He enjoys staying active, playing drums, watching the Lions, adventures with his fiancé, Kyndra, and just being a kid at heart.
